- <p> What happens when the First Lady of Communism meets the
- King of Capitalism? A book deal, that's what. The improbable
- summit took place when Australian-born media mogul Rupert
- Murdoch, who is chairman of Harper Collins' parent company,
- stopped by the Kremlin to talk rubles and reprints with Raisa
- Gorbachev, in need of a publisher for her autobiography. Such
- high-level negotiating is rare in the book world, but the
- personal touch worked--and Murdoch walked off with the rights
- to publish I Hope: Reminiscences and Reflections, Raisa's
- account of her childhood, her life with Gorby and, yes, her
- run-ins with Nancy Reagan. The book is due in the fall.
